Tracker for iPhone

Effective 8 September 2026

Tracker collects nothing. It has no network code at all — no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no accounts. Your tracks stay on your iPhone until you choose to send them somewhere yourself.

Location

Tracker asks for permission to use your location while you are using the app. It needs precise location because recording a GPS track is the entire purpose of the app — an approximate position would not produce a usable track.

Recording continues while the app is in the background or your screen is off, so that a track is not lost when you put your phone in your pocket. iOS shows its own indicator while this is happening. Tracker never requests "Always" location access, and it does not record anything when you are not actively recording a track.

Your location is used on your device to build the track, and is written only to the track files described below. It is never transmitted anywhere by the app.

What is stored on your device

Tracker makes its tracks available in the iOS Files app, so you can copy, move or delete them yourself. Deleting a track in Tracker, or deleting the app, removes this data from your device.

If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, these files are included in that backup, and Apple's privacy policy governs it.

Sharing is yours to initiate

Tracker can share or export a track by email, AirDrop, Files, or any other destination offered by the iOS share sheet. This only ever happens when you ask for it, and you choose the destination.

Once you send a track somewhere, that file is in the hands of whatever service or person received it, and their privacy policy applies to it — not this one. A GPX file records where you were and when, so consider where you are sending it.

What Tracker does not do

Children

Tracker is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
